EUROPE 02-Austria-Salzburg 1 (12/08/02)

Salzburg's "Old Town" (Altstadt) with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

It was raining heavily when we were in Vienna which culminated in floods over certain areas in Austria. We had to change three trains with a connecting bus ride for our train ride from Vienna to Salzburg. It was already late afternoon when we arrived in Salzburg and saw signs of flood in the old town which has just receded.
