CHINA 09-BEIJING-Day 01g-Forbidden City Imperial Quarters 3 (28/04/09)

The Yuhua Ge ("Drizzling Pavilion", a beautiful pavilion at the west side of the forbidden city. The pavilion is closed to visitors.

The well of Zhenfei ("Pearl" Concubine). She was the favourite of Emperor Guangxi, second last emperor of China. However, the Empress Dowager disliked her and legend has it that Zhenfei was pushed down this well to her death on the order of the Empress.

Typical alley that link the various smaller palaces where the Emperor's concubines used to stay. These courtyards are now converted to exhibition halls that display the treasures of the forbidden city.
