This whole page is devoted to the treasures from the Tomb of Tutankhamen in the Egyptian Museum. This is the only tomb of Pharoah that was intact when excavated. Tutankhamen was a pharoah of little importance who died young. But the treasures from his tomb are already very fascinating. One cannot imagine the treasures inside the tombs of the major pharoahs, most of which are lost forever.
The first three photos shows the funerary mask of Tutankhamen. It is placed onto the head of the mummified body, and is an exact likeness of the king. Made of gold and precious stones, particularly elegant is the heavy nemes headddress in blue and gold strips with the royal symbols on the forehead.
The next three photos are of the third mummiform sarcophagus. The seventh photo is of the containers that are used to store the organs of the mummy. The last two photos are of the Pharoah's throne. On the backrest of the throne is the royal Ka of Tutankhamen. It represents the Pharaoh's double which at the moment of his death left the body to follow him into the afterworld.
