Schönbrunn Palace was the main residence of the Habsburg, the former Austria royal family. It is situated in the outskirt of the city and easily accessible. It is built in the style of most European Palaces, with a large palace building facing a large garden.

The sculpted garden space between the palace and the Neptune Well is the Great Parterre ("Great Ground Floor"). Lining the Great Parterre are '32 sculptures, which represent deities and virtues.

The garden axis points towards a 60 meters higher hill, which since 1775 is crowned by the Gloriette structure, designed to glorify Habsburg's power.

The Gloriette gives visitors a great view of the city. The St. Stephen's Cathedral is visible in the far.
