The Mirabell Garden on the opposite side of the Salzach River. It was built along a north-south axis and oriented towards the Hohensalzburg Fortress (in the background) and the Salzburger Dom cathedral (the two towers in the center). This is where Maria and the children dance and sang "Do-Re-Mi" in the sound of music.

Not far from the Burgerspital is the Monchsberglift - the elevator that you take to climb the Monchsberg and get a stunning view of the city. The Monchsberg is one of the many aerial/panoramic lookouts in Salzburg and is considered one of the best. In the Sound of Music, there is a scene where Maria and the children sang a verse of "Do-Re-Mi" with the beautiful view of the city in the background. Here is the old town with the Festung Hohensalzburg.

From the Monchsberglift one can walk to the Festung Hohensalzburg with great views of the old town.
