NEPAL 99-Pokhara 1 (08/12/99)

We spent the day in Pokhara shopping, boating by Lake Phewa and admiring the Himalaya ranges. We left for Kathmandu the next morning.

Close up view of Annapurna South (left) and Annapurna I (right) from Pohkara. Annapurna I is not prominent when viewed from Pokhara. It is on the same ridge as Annapurna South and due to the perspective it appears lower than Annapurna South, even though in actual fact it is about 900m, or more than 10% higher.

From Phewa lake one can catch a glimpse of Dhaulagiri.

A close up view of Dhaulagiri. Even from far, one can appreciate the enormity of the mountain. The south face here rises a massive 4,000m from base.
